Frequently asked questions

What is an NFC memory chip?

An NFC memory chip is a small physical token — the size of a coin or card — that, when tapped with a smartphone, opens a personal web page containing photos, videos, and voice recordings. Jade is the first consumer-facing NFC memory chip designed as a giftable keepsake.

How does Jade work?

You buy a Jade chip, upload memories (photos, videos, voice notes) through the Jade app, and the chip links to your private memory page. Anyone with the chip can tap their iPhone or Android phone to instantly view the memories — no app install required on their end.

Is my data secure on Jade?

Yes. All photos, videos, audio, and text are encrypted before being uploaded using AES-256-GCM — the same encryption standard used by financial institutions. Your PIN is hashed with bcrypt server-side. All connections use HTTPS with TLS.

How long do Jade chips last?

The physical NFC chip has no battery and no moving parts — it can last decades. Your digital memories are stored on encrypted cloud servers with active backups, so the chip can be re-linked even if it's physically lost.

Can multiple people add memories to one Jade?

Yes, with Jade+. Collaborative pages let you invite family members or friends to contribute photos, videos, and comments to a shared page — perfect for wedding albums, baby milestones, or family vacations.

What if I lose the Jade chip?

Your memories are safe — they live in your account, not on the chip. You can request a replacement chip and re-link it to the same page. Your data is never lost with the physical object.

How much does Jade cost?

Jade chips are a one-time purchase. The app is free with one page and basic features. Jade+ subscription unlocks video and audio memories, multiple pages, collaborative editing, themes, and ebook export — $2.99/month or $24/year.
